ADHD eval starts tomorrow.

Tomorrow at 3 PM we start the evaluation process for Stevie. It is our initial meeting with the doctor -- apparently just getting history.

We just had a speech/hearing/vision evaluation through his school, so I guess I will bring those results also. It is amazing how little the evaluation told us. When we had Donnie evaluated through the school system, we were given detailed notes and findings. The therapist even write down every word Donnie said to her during one part of the evaluation (my favorite part of the conversation was when Donnie told her that the Wallace and Gromit video game was his favorite movie). For Stevie, I received one sheet of paper that told me that he was within the normal range for vocabulary and fluency, but showed delay in articulation and vision.

How exactly do you have delayed vision? I can see impaired vision -- but delayed? Looks like it's time to take a trip to the trusty eye doctor.

Tomorrow is the big stuff, though. We finally got the appointment with the doctor who came so highly regarded by our pediatrician. I feel like I am standing on the edge of something that I just can't describe. It's not a cliff -- we aren't in danger. It's not a mountain top -- we haven't even started. Maybe we are at the base of the mountain. There will be times when it feels really difficult, and other times when we will rest and take a look at the beautiful progress. The first step comes tomorrow afternoon.

Still no internet service.

Here is the quick update at the end of my long work day. I don't like to use the county computer for personal stuff. I'm sorry I have been so absent. I will be back up and running once we manage to wrangle some Internet service.

Stevie still hasn't had his ADHD evaluation. I have been playing phone tag with the psychologist for a couple of weeks. We are both really good about calling each other back. I think that when I am out of court, he must be with a patient. It is to the point where in the last voice mail message he said, "when you leave your next voice mail, why don't you leave a few times when you expect to be near the phone. I will call you then and we can set up the evaluation."

I am heartened by the fact that he calls back every time. At least I know he is dedicated.

Donnie is going to play one of the three wise men in the Christmas play at school. He just told me yesterday that he is going to sing a solo. As a former actress, I am beyond thrilled and excited.

We are still unpacking boxes. It's been two months. I don't know where to put my bed linens. Is this normal?

I really miss all of you. I feel like I have spent the last year saying, "I'm sorry that I never post." I do lurk on all of your blogs and cheer all of you on. Hopefully soon I will be back to my daily blogging self. The need to write is getting to me. I have started writing longhand on paper -- just to scratch the itch.

Tomorrow I get to take a VIP tour of our state crime lab. Bodies, DNA and drugs -- Oh MY! I love being a prosecutor. This is going to be so much fun.
